Travel

Conference venue, Hotel Academia, is located in the mountain resort of Stara Lesna in the High Tatras area in eastern Slovakia. A bus service for a nominal fee 20 EUR will be organized from/to the nearest international airport Krakow Balice :

• Krakow to Stara Lesna (June 18, 2013)
• Stara Lesna to Krakow (June 22-23, 2013)

In order to arrange bus transportation from/to the Krakow airport at your best convenience and to help you with transportation from the Poprad-Tatry train station we kindly ask those of you arriving either to Krakow or Poprad-Tatry to let us know your travel plans: date and time of your arrival and departure. The shuttle service from/to Krakow airport will be organized for a fee of 20 EUR payable in cash at the registration. At the Poprad-Tatry train station our students will assist you to get to Stara Lesna. Please, let us know your travel plans and whether you plan to use the shuttle from the Krakow airport as soon as possible, but no later than April 26th.

Arriving by Plane

1. Krakow Balice airport is the nearest international airport with frequent connections to major European destinations.

• Conference organizers will provide a direct bus service on June 18, 2013 and June 22-23, 2013. Alternatively, you may use service of numerous shuttle operators providing transport between Krakow airport and the Poprad region ( FoxTransfer , Transfers Poland , Easy Airport Taxis ). Ask about direct transfer to your hotel in Stara Lesna. Driving distance from Krakow airport to Hotel Academia in Stara Lesna is 150 km and takes about 2 hours.

2. Kosice international airport offers flights from Prague (Czech Airlines), Vienna (Austrian), and Bratislava (Danube Wings). To get from Kosice airport to the conference location:

• Transfer to the Kosice main train station (taxi or a public transportation bus no. 23, transfer time approx. 30 minutes).
• Take a train to Poprad-Tatry. There are trains approximately every two hours; travel time is about 1 hour 15 minutes (we recommend to take only fast or intercity trains). You may buy the ticket at the station or via internet . Note that intercity trains require seat reservation.
• Our students at the Poprad-Tatry train station will assist you in getting to Stara Lesna on June 18, 2013.

3. Bratislava international airport is served mostly by low-cost airlines. To get from Bratislava airport to the conference location:

• Transfer to the main Bratislava train station Bratislava, hl.st. (taxi or public transit bus no. 61, approx. 30 minutes).
• Take a train to Poprad-Tatry. There are trains approximately every two hours; regular trains take about 4 hours 45 minutes, intercity trains take 3 hours 45 minutes (recommended). You may buy the ticket at the station or via internet . Note that intercity trains require seat reservation.
• Our students at the Poprad-Tatry train station will assist you in getting to Stara Lesna on June 18, 2013.

4. Vienna international airport serves all major European and international destinations. To get from the Vienna airport to the conference location:

• Take bus or a light rail from Vienna airport to Vienna railway station (Wien HbF; you can find connections here and then take a train from Wien HbF to Poprad-Tatry via Bratislava main station (you can find connections here ).
• Another possibility is to take bus from the airport to Bratislava, Most SNP (Novy most) or Bratislava, AS (Bus terminal) . There are one or two busses every hour. Travel time is approx. 1 hour.
• Transfer to the main Bratislava train station - Bratislava, hl.st. (easiest by taxi, or from Bratislava, AS public transportation No. 210, travel time 10 min.).
• Take a train to Poprad-Tatry. There are trains approximately every two hours, regular trains take about 4 hours 45 minutes, intercity trains take 3 hours 45 minutes (recommended). You may buy the ticket at the station or via internet . Note that intercity trains also require seat reservation.

Arriving by Car

Hotel Academia (GPS: 49.151520,20.287007) is about 15 minutes from the Poprad highway exit. Poprad is connected with Bratislava and Kosice (not completly) through D1 highway. Approximate travel times by car:

• Vienna – Stara Lesna 4,5 hours
• Bratislava – Stara Lesna 3,5 hours
• Kosice – Stara Lesna 2 hours
• Praha – Stara Lesna 6 hours
• Budapest – Stara Lesna 4 hours
• Krakow – Stara Lesna 2 hours
• Poprad – Stara Lesna 20 min

Arriving by Train
